Chichester Chess Club

We are a friendly and welcoming chess club catering for all standards of play from beginners to County players.

Monday evenings from 7.30pm

We run three internal club competitions and also, combined with the Bognor and Arun Chess Club, enter four teams in the Portsmouth and District Chess League but, if preferred, there is also the opportunity to play a more casual form of chess. So anyone of any standard is welcome to come along to see if playing in a club environment is for you. Ladies and juniors are particularly welcome.

Fishbourne WI

The Women’s Institute group in Fishbourne meets on the fourth Wednesday of the month, except in August, at the Fishbourne Centre. Doors open at 2pm, and talks or social events start at 2.30pm. The event finishes by 4.30pm, and includes time to chat with members, and to discover what is happening in the WI in the area and wider.
The group has a number of other activities including table tennis and knit and stitch groups, which meet at the centre. There are regular socials locally and members can suggest and organise additional events, trips, and informal walks.

OK Chorale

The OK Chorale An informal singing group meeting AT The Fishbourne Centre every Monday 1pm to 3:00pm with the object of enjoying singing together. Harbour Voices Community Choir

The choir meets in the Main Hall at the Fishbourne Centre, Blackboy Lane, Fishbourne. Rehearsals are weekly on Mondays, mainly during the academic term time, 5.30pm to 7pm. Members come from the harbour villages and surrounding areas, including Bosham, Fishbourne, Nutbourne, Westbourne, Chichester, and further afield.

 There is a wide repertoire of music, accompanied and acapella, sung in three or four part harmony, with something for everyone’s taste, from pop and musical theatre to gospel and classical pieces.

 The choir was founded in January 2017 by well-known local Musical Director Ben Lathbury and Pam Sweet. The weekly subscription is £5 and can be paid by cash or card. Come along to a Monday rehearsal to find out more or speak to Pam on 01243 574239.

We are a small, friendly club with 2 lawns. Casual visitors from other clubs or with some experience of golf croquet are welcome to join us on Club afternoons but please contact us beforehand. Although most of our members play Golf Croquet, we do have an enthusiastic group of Association players who are always keen to introduce new members to this complex and challenging game.

We also hold an annual Fun Tournament playing a peculiar variation of croquet proposed in 2010 by former Chairman, Brian Shipman, the Fishbourne Game.

Fishbourne Community 50/50 Club

The 50/50 club is currently being used to raise funds for the children’s playground.  The funds raised through the club will help to fund the ever increasing cost of maintaining the facilities on the site – many of which are free to use. Currently the funds raised are designated for the upkeep and development of the Children’s play area.

Members of the 50/50 club pay £5 per month for a chance to win a monthly cash prize. The minimum value of the prize fund is £100, split into 3 prizes – £50, £30, £20. If the monthly subscriptions exceed £200 then the prizes are increased so that the total prize money is 50% of the value of the monthly subscriptions. Currently the monthly prize fund is approaching £250.

Membership is open to anyone over the age of 18 and subscriptions are paid monthly by standing order or by cheque annually in advance.

Winning entries are drawn by the administrator each month and prizes are paid by cheque or bank transfer. Lists of winners are displayed on the notice board at the Fishbourne Centre and the last 3 months can be downloaded by clicking on the link below.
